'Two cars have collided at the intersection and as a result,” says Ian.

Access into Cambridge Road for traffic travelling west was blocked for about an hour after the crash.

Police worked to clear the scene and are investigting the cause of the crash.

At this stage Ian is unable to confirm the severity of the injuries or how many people were involved in the crash.

The New Zealand Transport Agency advises that delays are likely while the road is being cleared and suggest motorists travelling west use either Cameron or Porpori roads.

Twice today I had 2 cars, in separate places, almost hit me. One a car shot across Fraser St without giving away properly, then later down Cameron Rd, a car pulled out in front of me as I was almost upon them. Unbelievable stupidity.

When a collision at Barkes Corner causes traffic to back up to Omanawa road there is a problem with Tauranga roads - its not impatient drivers - its about more houses and people in Tauranga with minimal changes to roads - its about Cameron road being 2 lanes and then 1 lanes, its about solving congestion points not moving them, its about planners suggesting lights at Chadwick road when the problem is Barkes Corner - its about 100k zones being reduced to 70k zones when someone builds a house - its about road planners using foresight and commonsence. I don't want to spend more retirement sitting in a traffic jam, so maybe I am starting to get impatient.
