Flash flooding has washed out a road in the Western Bay of Plenty.
A local resident Ryan Carlyle on his way to work whe he discovered Pongakawa Bush Road had been washed out.

'There is about a 5m gap in one spot. The water has come completely across and destroyed the road. You can't even get past it,” says Ryan.
A reporter at the scene says the water was waist deep and he expects the road to be closed for some time.
