A pod of orca have been entertaining walkers on the track round the Mount this morning.

'I was coming in from a training run on my racing kayak,” says Tim Taylor. 'And four orca appeared to be feeding in behind the dredge.”

The dredge is operating in the main channel just off the statue of Tangaroa at the harbour entrance.

Tim suspects the dredge was stirring up the sting rays and the orca were helping themselves to one of their favourite staples.

The orcas were clearly visible from the Mount track and spectators were lined up taking photographs.
