Maungatapu delays warning

Heavy machinery, including large cranes, will be moving the high voltage power line crossing the Maungatapu roundabout this weekend.

Due to these works, the New Zealand Transport Agency is warning motorists travelling through the area to expect delays of up to 12 minutes as speed restrictions and lane closures will be in place near the roundabout from Saturday to Sunday, July 23-24.

The speed restrictions and lane closures will be in effect between the hours of 7am and 6pm this weekend.

The agency is encouraging motorists to avoid State Highway 29A at the Maungatapu roundabout this weekend, and urge people to use alternative routes or plan travel outside of these hours to avoid delays at the busy worksite.

This work is weather dependent and will take place the following weekend if delayed.

The NZTA apologises for any inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience as work on the Maungatapu Underpass project continues.

The high voltage power line is being moved as part of the Maungatapu underpass project.
