Mount Maunganui has left the door open for Rangataua to steal top spot of the Baywide Club Rugby's Premier One Division after losing 27-21 to Rotoiti at the weekend.

Rotoiti has always been a side who can turn a game on its head and with their staunch supporters they proved they are a team not to be taken lightly.

The loss means Rangataua's 33-0 thrashing of Greerton puts them only one point behind the Mount (29 points) on the leader's board. Last year's champions Tauranga Sports (21 points) sits in third one point ahead of Rotoiti.

Tauranga Sports managed a dominant performance against Whakatane Marist with a 58-18 over the Easter Bay side. Te Puna continue their great form with a solid 34-28 win over Te Puke Sports.

In the Premier Two division, Whakarewarewa continues to dominate with an easy 38-15 win over Ngongotaha.Whakarewarewa have a strangle hold of their division with 35 points. Their nearest rival is Paroa who easily beat Marist St Michael's 71-7 and have accumulated 28 points. Poroporo who beat Arataki 24-13 sits third on the points table. In the other match of the round Opotiki beat Waikite 8-0.
