Possible delays on SH29A Maungatapu

Motorists are being advised of possible delays on State Highway 29A near the Maungatapu roundabout, Tauranga for the next two days.

The New Zealand Transport Agency released a statement this morning saying power transmission line relocation work began at 5am this morning and will continue through to 6pm.

Motorists can expect 30km/h speed restrictions and lane closures during this times with manual traffic control at selected times. The Agency says motorists should avoid the area if possible.

An alternative route for motorists is The Tauranga Harbour Bridge and SH29 or Cambridge and Moffat Roads to Bethlehem on SH2.

Motorists using SH29A west of Oropi Rd, Poike Rd and Welcome Bay Road via Hairini Street are not affected by the work.

Work will resume again at 5am tomorrow as well the statement advises.
