A woman in her 40s died in a two car crash at Te Puna earlier today. The crash occured on Te Puna Road at 12.30am say Police.

Police say the death has been referred to the coroner. The driver of the other car was taken to Tauranga hospital as a precaution. Neither car had any passengers.
The crash occured on Te Puna Road at the intersection with Te Puna Station road. A vehicle from Te Puna, according to the police markings, appears to have crossed the centre line.
Earlier reports state the dead woman was trapped in the vehicle.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating. Police are working with the family of the deceased woman and are not in a position to release her name at this stage.
Police's thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.
