Felled trees cause highway hazard

People driving in the Matata area are being warned to expect delays due to felled trees on the highway.

The NZ Transport Agency says trees have been at the intersection of State Highway 2, Paengaroa, and State Highway 33 junction to Awakeri.

'Temporary speed signs of 50km/h are in place due to felled trees,” says a statement from the roading agency.

'A stop/go is in place and people are being warned to expect delays.”

The highway is expected to be fully open by this afternoon.
