Why ??

... when they are trying to bring business to the CBD would they give resource consent to this enterprise, which will further take business from the CBD. The city cinemas brought people into the city - now who is going to go there when they can park for free, go to the cinemas, the Warehouse and visit the other 48 retail outlets which will complete the new complex ?Absolute madness!!

forget the CBD already, when 2000 students hit it looking for one "happy hour" after another all the inane expense to try and resuscitate it will be for nothing!!!, I purposefully went into the CBD pre the rugby game at the Domain the other week...... "Eat Street" was empty besides seagulls!, the entire place is disfunctional and needs direction, but with the students even "hairy mclairy" will be looking to slip the leash and escape!, $10 Tauranga the City that does not know what it is!, a bit here a bit there and nothing but egos trying to make a name for themselves, sad but true and makes good business sense to me to take a commercial venture to where the people are, sad but true.

Why not?

Um, apparently Tauranga's population is increasing.I thought reducing traffic heading into the CBD where there isn't enough parking would be a good idea.

Well..

with all these immigrates coming in we could send them into the CBD and they can take over, like Auckland.. just saying. And the kiwi can relax with a nice coffee, at the Crossing.

At least a Bit more Planned

The main CBD has been added to over time from the late 1800's, had a relative who apparent sold timber from along near the Strand, and developing the satellite areas may see the CBD wrecked and re planned by owners, not the Council, even though they give consent. Tauranga CBD was built on where the people arrived not by logic. I have seen it change from a vibrant Friday night shopping and really busy to a sleepy hollow. Part of that is lack of planning but also by satellite areas. People like to shop close to where they live or where there is covered areas in wet weather. Re plan CBD owners of buildings, not grizzle and Tauranga CBD MAY become vibrant again. The thoughts of the TCC building being out of CBD could have merit.. Think outside the square.
