Car rolled at Barkes Corner

UPDATED: Minor injuries have been reported in a two car crash which resulted in one vehicle rolled onto its roof.

Police were called to the crash on State Highway 29, between The Lakes and Barkes Corner roundabouts, just before 11am.

The crash caused the highway between the two roundabouts to be closed for about an hour.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Witnesses to the incident, who have not yet spoken with police, can contact Tauranga Police Station on 07 577 4300.

Alternatively, information can be left anonymously via the Crimestoppers 0800 555 111 line.

Motorists are being asked to steer clear of Barkes Corner as emergency services deal with a two car crash.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Ian Campion says the crash has resulted in one vehicle rolling into a bank and blocking a lane.

Ian says injuries are believed to be minor at this stage.

He's advising traffic to bypass the roundabout, either via Cheyne Road or Takitimu Drive.

A daily occurrence. Let's guess - driving too fast, crossed the centre line, either deliberately or busy with other stuff like texting, bang. A life almost wiped out. Issue a fine to add to the ones to be never paid. Worst drivers in the world.
