The first rates payments for the 2016/17 cycle are due tomorrow, but the Tauranga City Council provides ways to make the task less arduous.
The easiest way to pay is the direct debit option offered on the Council website.
People can go into Tauranga City Council's offices on Willow Street to pay their rates.
As an added incentive, each new direct debit application received will go into the draw to win $500 off the payer's rates, thanks to sponsorship by ANZ.
The direct debit method allows the ratepayer to control their payment term, and removes the risk of late payment penalties.
Property owners can process rebate applications and pay their rates invoices at Greerton Library between 9.30am and 1pm tomorrow, or access the Council website to save time and do it online.

Running has always been illegal along with entering an intersection on an amber knowing that it will not be possible to complete before Red.The road code stipulates that it is illegal to overtake or change lanes while negotiating an intersection, apparently, no one in Tauranga knows that except for myself. And, it is not alright to tailgate at 100kmph in wet and slippery conditions while using a cellphone.
