A huge blaze has erupted in central Hamilton following a smaller fire at the same location on Sunday.
The plume of black smoke billowing up from A. H. Franks tyre shop over the CBD can be seen from across the city Stuff repoprts
Four fire trucks and an ambulance are at the scene. Anglesea Street is lined with people.
Northern Fire Communications shift manager Steve Smith said there was a fire on the outside of the building that has broken through the roller door and spread internally.
An investigation is under way.
Josh Davies, who was at the scene, said it looked like a stack of tyres that were outside the building had been set alight.

Events like this would be unlikely to happen if the Government had backed the tyre industry scheme on the recycling of end of life tyres. A small surcharge and making it illegal to dump tyres was all that was required. We are so far behind the recycling leaders it is embarrassing.
