TIME FOR THAT ROUNDABOUT

Now can we have a roundabout here!!?? We've been promised one for years and it's never materialised. These sort of accidents are going to become more frequent as the developers insist on building hundreds of more houses on our peninsula. And one road in one road out for a growing population is another issue. I believe in this case people had to park up along Youngson Road because they couldn't get down Omokoroa Road. Hope the motorcyclist recovers.

Not suggesting...

...that the rider was at fault. However, for the record, there were three separate incidents I saw in Tauranga where motorcyclists seemed hell bent on killing themselves through stupid riding. It was only through me taking evasive action that this was avoided. The worst one was a gang member passing traffic at high speed on the inside of the lane on Hewlett's road flyover!

Need another road into Omokoroa

Posted on 07-12-2016 16:09 | By wendygalloway3@gmail.com

About ten years ago, council purchased land to make an extra road into Omokoroa Peninsula, this road was to be near Francis Road, we are now told by council this will not happen. Many residents are asking the question what will happen if the railway bridge on the peninsula is damaged what will be happen to residents that need to get and out of the peninsula. With the increase in population to about 10,000 in 5 years, we need that extra road and the roundabout immediately not 4 - 5 years away.

TIME FOR ACTION

Council and our local MPs aren't listening to the people who pay their wages and pay for all their assets. It's time Omokoroa residents stand up to these clowns and take action through peaceful protesting........bring development at new subdivisions along Omokoroa Road to a stand still for example until our elected listen to us!!! The WBoP Mayor lives on the peninsula - come on Mayor start pushing for change.

Should have been

Great idea! Let's slow this road down even morewhy don't we just walk instead? How about a four lane highway with off ramps? A real road to handle traffic volume is the answer, not another ridiculous inefficient roundabout.
