Police have named a Papamoa man as the person who was killed in a crash in Whakatane on New Year's Day.
Gregory Mark Walsh died when a vehicle and truck crashed on Thornton Road around 12.30pm.
Police say the truck rolled as a result of the crash. 'Two occupants of the other vehicle were treated for moderate and minor injuries.”
The crash saw the road closed for several hours as the serious crash scene examined the crash.
In releasing Gregory's name today, police say they would like to extend their sympathies to his family and friends at this time.
