A man suffering from a serious medical condition had to be flown to hospital earlier today.
The Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was tasked to Te Kaha Medical Centre after a 56-year-old man presented with a serious medical condition around 11am.
Pilot and base manager Liam Brettkelly says the patient was stabilised by the on board Intensive Care Paramedic before being flown to Whakatane for further treatment.
'The helicopter was used because of the serious nature of the man condition and the distance to hospital.”
