UPDATED: Firefighters are ventilating a house after a pot of fat caught fire in Mount Maunganui.
Crews were called to the propety on Leander Street just before 1pm.
A reporter at the scene says all the occupants were out of the house and one person was being treated for smoke inhalation.
"It appears a pot on a stove caught fire, causing the house to be smoke-logged."
Firefighters are still at the scene dealing with the incident.
