A wheelbrace was used to threaten a motorbike bike shop attendant at Moto Revolution in Waihi road this afternoon, by two men wanting childrens bikes, a police spokeswoman says.

The males were wearing hoodies, black sunglasses, had facial tattoos and left the shop with some motorised children's bikes.

After extensive police inquiries in the region, two offenders were located in Rotorua and later arrested for the robbery.

Police were alerted by a 111 call at 4.20pm where shop staff said they were being threatened with a wheelbrace.

It is not known whether the alleged robber picked the wheelbrace up in the shop, or took it in with him.
