The police national dive squad is scouring a Bay of Plenty lake for a missing person.

Today's search is the second day divers will search for a person who was reported to have gone under the water at Lake Rotoiti.

A witness called police yesterday to say a person had gone under at about 3.45pm.

A search of the lake was commenced, but there was no sign of the missing person.

A police spokesperson says the shoreline and on-water search is continuing this morning for a person 'who apparently went under while boating at Lake Rotoiti yesterday afternoon”.

'The police national dive squad were called out this morning and are still on their way to the scene currently.”
