Families and couples relocating to Rotorua are being sought by producers of a new TV show focusing on people leaving the big smoke in Auckland for a greater work/life balance in the regions.

Hosted by Rotorua bar owner Tamati Coffey, the prime time show will air on TV One later this year.

It will follow ten groups giving up the hectic city life for a better quality lifestyle in the regions.

Faultline Films producer Amanda Jones says cameras will follow the move and be on location as the subjects settle into their new town, as well as contrasting their new lives with old.

'Rotorua's got so much going for it and we know a number of people are looking at escaping the rat-race.

'If we can find the right people we'll help relocate them. It would be great to find someone starting a business or doing something slightly different – or even whacky. As a koha, NZ Vanlines will even pack and move households within the North Island.

'For anyone keen to be considered, the next stage is sending in a video, it's really easy.”

Amanda says the video only has to be phone quality and should be up to a minute long explaining the reasons for the move and when it's happening.

For those interested the video can be emailed to movingouttvnz@gmail.com, or if it's too large, videos can be uploaded to www.wetransfer.com and put in the Faultline email address.

Rotorua Economic Development Ltd's domestic marketing manager Tom Worsp says they are seeing a substantial increase in interest from people thinking about relocating to Rotorua.

'There's been an increase in website traffic to RotoruaNZ.com/live and recruitment agencies in the city are also experiencing increased inquiries,” he says.

'Rotorua is now an attractive option when people are discussing relocation, with the amazing lifestyle because of our central location, beautiful forests, uncongested roads, 18 lakes and more affordable housing than our big city cousins up the road.”
