UPDATED 5PM: Cameron Road is now clear following a three-car collision outside the main entranceway to Tauranga Hospital.
A reporter at the scene says the three vehicles involved in the crash had been moved to the side of the road and traffic is now flowing freely.
A police spokesperson confirms no-one was injured in the nose-to-tail smash which occurred at about 4.30pm.
EARLIER:
Traffic is reported to be building up on Cameron Road following a three-car nose-to-tail collision outside the main entranceway to Tauranga Hospital.
A police spokesperson says officers have been dispatched to the crash at the intersection of Cameron Road and 18th Avenue at about 4.30pm.
'There were no injuries, however, one lane of Cameron Road is reported to be blocked as a result of the crash.”
Motorists travelling in the area are being warned to expect delays.

It has been an accident waiting to happen along that stretch of road what with cars and buses running red lights and HOSPITAL STAFF jay walking regularly too lazy to wait for lights at both sets come on Transit or Council do something positive instead of ducking for cover.

comes to mind.........this is a controlled intersection after all . Too many people dont go straight away when lights turn green that cant help and alot of people see a green light go like snot regardless of what traffic in front is doing.

I pass this busy intersection several times each day and have never and I mean NEVER seen hospital staff jaywalking. They always wait for the cross light before crossing. What I have seen regularly are drivers entering the intersection on a green light when there is NO EXIT on the other side. The lights then turn red, cars are stuck in the middle and the drivers with a green light cannot go anywhere. Oh, and when that happens pedestrians have to weave through these idiots to get across the road on the cross signal. There needs to be a camera fitted and all these clowns (well it is a circus) can be ticketed for running the red or entering the intersection when there is no clear exit, as the road rules state.
