What’s On? Tattoos & Psychics

Plenty of people will be getting inked today at the tattoo expo. Photo: Tracy Hardy.

It's another drizzly, morose-looking day today, although there could be moments of sunshine thrown into the mix.

Fear not, though; for although the beach may not be so appealing, there are still things to do on a rainy Sunday in Tauranga.

The New Zealand International Tattoo and Art Expo at the Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre is opening its doors at 11am for its final day. If you didn't check it out yesterday, it's not too late to catch the best tattoo artists from around the country and overseas. Some of the international artists who've made their way to the festival include Jime Litwalk and Katherine ‘Tatu Baby' Flores from the hit US reality TV show Ink Masters, traditional irezumi tattoo artist Ryugen who specialises in tebori (Japanese hand poke tattooing), plus Dr Rev who creates incredibly detailed artworks – from his own blood.

After a day of getting inked, what better way to unwind than at the Psychic Café at Greerton Community Hall. There will be psychics, healers and spiritualists sharing their gifts and passions, plus refreshments. Doors open at 6.45pm, with entry $10.
