Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom and three others are eligible for USA extradition, according to a High Court ruling.
The decision just released from the High Court's Justice Murray Gilbert upholds a District Court finding that there are grounds for the four accused to be deported to face charges in the USA.
Finn Batato, Bram van der Kolk and Mathias Ortmann, along with Dotcom, cannot be extradited on copyright infringement charges; but general criminal law fraud provisions, says Justice Gilbert.
The four are sought by the US Government to answer 13 charges including counts of conspiracy to commit racketeering; money laundering and wire fraud.

Funny that the USA rarely allow extradition but they expect all the countries around the world to bow.

...has been a good citizen while in NZ, contributing large amounts to the Community and providing stimulation to re-think some of our entrenched mores. I don't believe he is a REAL criminal. His failed attempt at politics was amusing, if nothing else, but you could sum up his activities (including the Sky Tower firework displays) as: "Mostly harmless..." If the USA say they want him to face charges, and there is an extradition agreement in place, then we probably have little choice. Perhaps the level of criminality for which we would extradite needs to be reviewed. Thugs, assassins and terrorists are one thing; victimless crimes are quite another. I hope he gets off... :-)
