Girls' cricket is taking off at Tauranga Intermediate.

Three years ago the school had no girls' cricket team, but it now boasts two teams and growing it to four teams this year.

Already the school has produced sides which have competed at back to back national finals in Christchurch placing 3rd in both 2015 and last year.

The growing popularity of the game at Tauranga Intermediate has created a greater need for gear and so the ANZ has stepped up and provided kit to the young cricketers. The bank personally delivered the gear to the school yesterday.

'We have been supporting cricket at all levels in New Zealand for 19 years,” says the ANZ head of sponsorship and corporate marketing Sue McGregor.

'We know sometimes all you need is a little bit of extra help achieve your dreams so we are committed to helping as many cricket fans as we can.”

'Our gear was pretty old,” says Tauranga Intermediate White Fern, Maia Chandler.

'The new gear means it's going to be much better for us.” And she think it might encourage more kids to play cricket.”

The new gear will get its first outing tomorrow.

The ANZ is also continuing it's ‘dream deliveries' programme across New Zealand this summer. It gives cricketers of all ages and levels the opportunity to have their personal cricket dream realised.
