Water damage closes village shops

A damaged water main has been identified as the cause of flooding at the Historic Village.

Tauranga City Council staff say the situation is under control and "the Village team is working with tenant to assess the damage.

"The Whipped Baker and the Village Hall will remain closed today."

Yesterday, council said three shops and the hall at the Village on 17th Avenue had been damaged following a flood overnight on Tuesday.

As a results, the shops were closed yesterday while the damage was being assessed.

Historic Village tenants and event organisers are being contacted to make alternative arrangements. Please contact the Village office if you have any queries.
