No changes have been made to the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union's current Board of Directors following its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday.

BOPRU CEO Mike Rogers says with no changes to the board, this consistency will have a positive effect to the union's growth and performance with a number of upcoming big projects.

These projects include BOPRU's constitution review, establishment of a new strategic plan, finding a suitable home for rugby in Tauranga, and the delivery of the Maori All Blacks versus British and Irish Lions test at Rotorua International Stadium on June 24.

BOPRU confirmed a strong financial position for 2016, which will provide the union with the opportunity to invest in future plans to grow and develop the game at all levels.

Mike says the union have established a solid foundation needed to support the activity it wants to deliver in the Bay of Plenty community and achieve the results they desire.

'Our focus will be to achieve our objectives we have set ourselves in the final year of the current strategic plan and then turn our attention to the development of new strategic plan to provide the framework for the future of rugby in the Bay of Plenty.”

The AGM also saw president Graeme Crossman complete his term after two years of presidency and two years as vice president. He will remain involved as an avid member of the BOPRU Presidents Group, along with the presidents who have gone before him.

BOPRU vice president Phil Barnett was confirmed as president, and Opotiki's Kevin Hennessy as vice president.

Mike credits Graeme for his service to the union and his positive contribution to the Presidents Group during his term as president, and also praises incoming president Phil Barnett for the progress he's already achieved.

'He has been a key member in reconnecting with our former players and will continue to be a fundamental member of the Presidents Group that will assist the Union in establishing an Alumni programme for our former players' and coaches.

'[While] Phil has already contributed to the progress Graeme has made. We are excited for what our Presidents Group can continue to achieve as we begin to transition into a new strategic plan.”
