The public need to know

If the purpose of the media is to keep the public informed of current national and international news then New Zealand media falls well short of its obligations. News is not just the reportage of conflicts and calamities that afflict the world but of forces that govern our lives. The media has a moral obligation to serve the needs of the people and should not just publish news that suits their own editorial requirements.

The Resource Legislation Amendment Bill is of vital importance to all New Zealanders and has ramifications that may adversely affect all of us, but whether through company policy, political affiliations or fear of ethnic reactions this Bill has had little reportage in the media as have the unofficial consultations between the National Party and Maori.

Unofficial, because the public seems to be belatedly and reluctantly informed with little opportunity or time to participate.

Are we to have a favoured, ethnic group being granted unique, undemocratic rights and representation on councils and regional committees with the right to influence decisions? The Treaty made Maori equal to all other subjects of the Crown. Not more. The present government does not seem to accept this fact.

The public needs and deserves to know what is being considered. This will probably not be published.

That this Race based Bill may well have been passed (somewhat secretly...is that democracy?) importantly it is important to consider if you are happy with it's probable ramifications?, and if not, email your MP, PM urgently with your concerns. I am sure we will hear from the usual suspects.NZ First is almost beginning to look attractive....sad a that is.................

You are so right, and so much of the media are terrified of telling the truth. Take last week....Bill English puts tinned spaghetti on a pizza and it makes the news globally. The same week, the sneaky traitors maquerading as politicians pass legislation giving one part race RMA power only limited by their imagination, and it gets little mention. The lazy Kiwi media prefer stories about Kim Kardashian's shoes than getting off their butts and doing a bit of fact finding. Of course, these journalists have been brainwashed in their school and uni days and don't want to upset their PC liberal masters.

Bill and his nat mates can kiss their ass goodby this election

Passing the Resource Legislation Amendment Bill with its racist inclusions is the last straw. This Government has well and truly done its dash. I cannot believe they have not listened to the people opposed to this Bill. It was passed by 1 vote only. I wrote to all Nat Parliamentarians , told them that all my family, 4 generations, disagreed with their aims. We have voted their way since the start of the Nat Party in 1936. Not one of us (14) will go with Nats this time.
