Drier weather on its way

After all the rain from last week, there is mostly high pressure dominating New Zealand over the coming short week and weekend.

A south to south west flow may see a few showers here and there over the next few days but the general trend is for calming weather, sunnier skies and drier conditions overall (compared to the past week especially), says Weatherwatch.co.nz

'This weekend more high pressure dominates although the easterly flow may return to the north of New Zealand bringing in a few showers there.

'The high isn't centred over the country - rather it's centred over the mid-Tasman Sea so New Zealand is on the edges of it, receiving mainly settled weather but still a few passing showers tracking around the outer edges of the system.”

The next big rain maker may not be for another week.
