What’s On? Altered Art & Rugby

Good morning Sunners, welcome to what's looking like it's going to be a brilliant Saturday.

MetService forecasts a fine day with light winds so it's looking perfect weather for today's Baywide Rugby Competition matches, and An Exhibition of Altered Art at The Incubator in the Historic Village.

Following a mix of results over the Easter period, and the rescheduling of a number of fixtures due to last week's wild weather, normality will be restored for this weekend's competition round.

In the Premier competition, Te Puna currently sit at the top of the table with 20 points, followed by Tauranga Sport and Arataki who are both on 17 points.

While in the Division 1 competition, Ngongotaha lead the pack with 19 points, followed by Opotiki and Papamoa who are tied with 14 points each.

Premier and Premier Development matches kicking off in the Western Bay at 1pm ad 2.45pm respectively include Mount Maunganui Sports v Greerton Marist at Blake Park, Tauranga Sports v Te Puna at Tauranga Domain, and Arataki v Te Puke Sports at Arataki Park.

While in Division 1, Waimana take on Papamoa at Waimana Domain at 2.45pm.

If rugby ain't your cup of tea, then head on down to the Historic Village and get your mind altered by some awesome art.

In association with the Kiwi Coast Lions Club and Creative Bay of Plenty, creative hub is proudly hosting an Exhibtion of Altered Art at the Incubator Gallery in The Historic Village on 17th Ave.

The free exhibition features works created by artists, celebrities and sportspeople from around the Bay and New Zealand who've taken up the challenge to morph one of a pile of identical vintage prints into their own serious or quirky masterpieces.

Each print has been embellished and altered as the artist sees fit, then mounted and presented for an online auction to raise money for the well deserving Waipuna Hospice.

The works will all be up on display at the Incubator until May 2. For more information, visit the Incubator's Facebook page or www.theincubator.co.nz
