They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning - we will remember them.

Today people all across the country are gathering in the dawn to honour, remember and reflect upon the sacrifices of the Kiwi soldiers who fought at Gallipoli and other conflicts in which New Zealand has been involved in since.

In the Western Bay of Plenty, commemorations are underway with dawn parades in Tauranga, Katikati, and Mount Maunganui which SunLive photographer Tracy Hardy has captured photos of this morning.

If you were unable to attend a dawn parade, memorial services will also be taking place at Mount Maunganui Cenotaph, Tauranga Memorial Park, Pyes Pa Cemetery, Te Puke War Memorial Hall and the Katikati RSA later this morning:

MOUNT MAUNGANUI CENOTAPH – Assemble at Mount Drury Reserve at 9.15am, march off at 9.25am, with the service commencing at 9.30am.

TAURANGA MEMORIAL PARK – Assemble at Memorial Park at 8.30am, march off at 8.45am, with the service commencing at 9am.
