Fire training in council building

The Volunteer Fire Brigade will be training in the empty administration building in the coming weeks. File photo.

There will be a real sense of emergency at the council in the coming weeks, but there's no need to be alarmed.

The Volunteer Fire Brigade will be training in the empty Tauranga City Council administration building on Tuesday evenings over the next few weeks, starting today, May 16.

The fire service will run different scenarios and are using the administration building because they are not able to run some training sessions in an occupied building.

The team have had a full health and safety briefing and will be using safety equipment (e.g. breathing apparatus) while inside the building. A fire truck will be parked outside during these training exercises.

The training will be held from 7pm each Tuesday.

..more work and sweat in the near future than what's been happening in the building for many, many years then !

Saves money on training budgets, and we need a well trained fire service.
