If you're planning on venturing south this weekend take extra care when driving on the Desert Road/State Highway 1 through the central plateau.
MetService warns snow showers are expected today, and between two and four centimetres of snow may accumulate above 800 metres until 1pm, then showers should ease.
'Another period of snow showers are possible between 4-7pm this evening, and up to 1cm may accumulate on the road during this time,” says a MetService spokesperson.
It is the second day in a row MetService has issued a snowfall warning for the Desert Road.
