Police are appealing for information from the public to help them locate three men.
Whakatane Police Senior Sergeant Yvonne Parker says the following people have 'absconded from their bail addresses”.
Wainui Awatere
The 23-year-old man from Lower Hutt absconded on May 16 while on home detention at an Opotiki address.
Yvonne says he was on home detention after being convicted of dishonesty and violence charges in Hutt Valley District court on March 17.
'He is known to have been in Whanganui on May 28 and could still be around the lower North Island.”

The 32-year-old Kawerau man absconded on May 12 after a parole recall warrant was issued for his arrest.
'He is possibly using a stolen vehicle, a 2009 grey Ford FALCON XR6, registration FBY241, which was taken on 29/5/17 from an address in Kawerau,” says Yvonne.
'He is likely to be in the BOP area still.”
Chezarn Murray
The 21-year-old from Rotorua absconded on May 13 from his electronically monitored bail address in Whakatane.
'He is facing serious violence charges and was remanded on bail from the Rotorua District court. He has links to Rotorua but has also recently been seen in Auckland.”
Yvonne asks anyone who sees these people or the stolen vehicle then please call 111.
'If you have information about their whereabouts then call your nearest Police station or if you wish to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers.”

These guys look as if they don't know any other life now. Reoffending and going "back home with the bros" to prison brings Karma and status. The world, not just NZ, needs to do justice differently. Everything else has been "restructured" Why has crime and punishment been overlooked?

What happened to stand up straight and look at the camera? The middle one has distorted his face by leaning his head back and slanting his eyes. If the cops can't be bothered to take a good photo I can't be bothered rounding up their lost sheep.

Captain Sensible refers to me in the third party, so I will continue in kind. My original evaluation of the 3 fugitives was composite, (ie; image and text) but seems to have been lost on Captain Sensible. Now that he has got his personal attacks out of the way (always his first approach), perhaps we can look forward to his objective input on the core topic. That would be fairly novel!

....we hear that "in Sweden" or "in Norway" or wherever certain justice reforms work, so why not here?..well, we have a different generic "mix" within our population, which in itself does not necessarily mean what is working, or seen to, in one country will not necessarily work in ours. We are seemingly being asked to believe that "more tolerance" and bail being freed up is good, but when this sort of thing occurs (more regularly than we think I would imagine), maybe we should actually be taking a harder stance on crime more specifically re-offending. I wonder if other writers would head in the direction of re-introducing capital punishment?..it will need to be seriously considered at some point perhaps as moral and social attitudes decline.

True what you say. Quite a few years ago Singapore actually cancelled two prison extension building projects due to "a shortage of inmates" presumably because Mr Lee Kuan Yew's policies were working. With the Rattan, they don't come back for seconds! I remember when Sir Robert Muldoon suggested we ought to look at Singapore for good justice guidance, there was an uproar. He was of course, a good friend of Mr Lee and they would have talked about issues. You can walk anywhere day or night in Singapore and feel perfectly safe. Not bad for a city with a high population density.
