Six wins for Team NZ in Cup race

UPDATED 6.17AM: Team New Zealand has just crossed the finish line in race eight of the America's Cup.

The American's came in 30s behind the Kiwi team.

It all happened in the starting box really. NZ got a massive 14s advantage there, reports Stuff.

"It's a bit of an advantage when you get off the start line like that. We have done a lot of work in this area. he guys held it really tight from there and made sure we didn't let them back into the race," says Burling.

Two more races are scheduled for tomorrow.

Tuesday's schedule:

5.12am: Race 9 - NZ v US

5.57am: Race 10 - NZ v US

EARLIER:

Peter Burling buries Jimmy Spithill in the start box to give Team NZ a dominant lead early in race eight.

Team New Zealand have responded to Oracle's fightback in the best possible fashion as they reasserted their dominance on Bermuda's Great Sound.

Trailing 4-0 following five-straight defeats to the Kiwis, Oracle showed new found speed on Saturday (Sunday NZ time) to finally get on the board.

While it was only one win, the result stirred memories of that comeback four years ago, but this version of Team NZ proved they are made of much sterner stuff, bouncing back to win race seven by 12 seconds to stretch their series lead to 5-1.

The first to 7 wins the Auld Mug.
