The trailer of a truck and trailer unit have rolled on State Highway 3 blocking the road completely, near the Ingahape Road intersection in South Taranaki.
Motorists have been asked to avoid the area, delay travel or take alternate routes if possible, as there are no diversions available.
Police say the weather is creating all kinds of disruption and motorists should take extreme caution on the roads.
Police and road contractors are working to clear the road, however there is no estimated time on when it will be cleared.
