Tauranga's luminous celebration of lights returns with the second edition of Winter Lights Winter Nights at the Tauranga Waterfront.
This year the Bay of Plenty Regional Council have extended operating hours on most Bayhopper bus routes from Friday, July 14 to Saturday, July 15.
'We're thrilled to support Tauranga City Council's Winter Nights Winter Lights event by extending our Bayhopper operating hours for Friday and Saturday and we hope to see lots of families and groups of friends make the most of the later services,” says public transport committee chairman Lyall Thurston.
He says the late buses are a great opportunity to get behind a community event and to showcase Tauranga's bus service to new users.
Winter Nights, Winter Lights is a free event organised by the Tauranga City Council and will feature a range of interactive light installations by Auckland-based artist Angus Muir.
People can come into town at any time between 6pm and 9.30pm, grab a bite from The Little Big Market's ‘Winter Bites' food stalls or from one of the many bars and restaurants in the CBD and enjoy the light shows.
The regular weekend and public holiday timetable resumes on Sunday, July 16.

I trust that the operators will be required to keep detailed records of how many people use the buses in the "extended hours" AND that the statistics will be available to the public/media - none of the usual "commercially sensitive" c - - p"!!!
Thankyou
