Car stolen after assault

A man has been assaulted and his vehicle stolen by a group of carjackers in Tauranga.

The incident happened at around 10am on Saturday.

A police spokesperson says three men were involved in the assault and theft of the vehicle, which was a 2002 Silver Renault.

The offenders are described as wearing ‘black and red clothing'.

“Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the car near Matapihi Road. Please contact your local police station.

“Alternatively, information may be shared anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

The investigation is ongoing.
