A man described as 'armed and dangerous” is still on the run after allegedly shooting up a police car in Morrinsville.

Waikato Police and AOS staff swarmed a property on Studholme Street, Morrinsville, overnight as they continued to look for Rollie James Heke.

The search warrant was executed following a shootout with police in Sunday morning.

Police say the search warrant has been completed and the cordons that had been set up in the area have been stood down.

'A guard remains at the property and a search of the address will continue today for evidence in relation to the firearms incident.

'As part of the ongoing investigation police are continuing their efforts to locate 36-year-old Rollie James Heke.

'Anyone who sees Heke or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact Police immediately on 111.”

Heke is believed to be armed and dangerous and should not be approached, police say.

"Heke is actively avoiding police and is known to have links in Hamilton, Auckland and Tauranga.

"He has several existing warrants to arrest for methamphetamine related offences and breaching bail."

Inquiries to locate Heke will continue today.

Anyone with information on Heke's whereabouts should contact Police immediately on 111.

Are we lately seeing an increase in the number of psychopaths in our community?

Every other day there is a headline of armed robberies, firearms being used more often, police assaults and car chases. Now we also have our hospital staff having to deal with out of control synthetic drug use on top of everything else they deal with. As I've said before there seems to be no fear of the police or the law and it seems to be getting worse.

Not a problem according to paula Bennett , no need to curb the amounts of guns being sold on trade me or even ordered on line.

I just hope he doesn't start approaching any children in a desperate attempt to evade capture. It's futile. He should hand himself in. Some people are just too stupid to know when they are beaten.
