Police searching for two missing men in Tongariro National Park are expected to enlist the help of the National Dive Squad today.

The dive squad will concentrate on streams and creeks within the area in what will be the sixth day of the search.

The pair were last seen on Saturday after they fled from police in a stolen car on the Desert Road.

"While tough conditions were endured, searching between Tree Trunk Road and the Pillars of Hercules, no further evidence of their whereabouts has been found," says Senior Sergeant Tony Jeurissen.

"At the Taupo Police Station search base, all the information gathered so far is being evaluated.

"By assessing the areas covered up until now, police and Land Search and Rescue are working to re-task search efforts."

In a meeting in Turangi yesterday afternoon, the latest information was shared with the mens' families, who continue to receive support.

"Police would like to acknowledge the exceptional assistance provided by representative members of Ngati Tuwharetoa," says Tony.

"They have supported searchers and the mens' families throughout this distressing time."

Apparently they are not happy with Police efforts so far. Simple solution. Let the brothers go look for them. Hopefully a few more will go missing.
