A spit roast explosion has left a man with burns to his head and neck.
The man, believed to be in his 50s, was injured when a barbeque-style spit roast exploded at a birthday celebration in Whitianga.
A spokesperson for the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust says their Whitianga crew was tasked to the Coromandel Township on Sunday to assist the injured man.
'He suffered burns to his head and neck and was transported to Waikato Hospital in serious condition.”
