Cloudy start to Daffodil Day

Today is Daffodil Day. Funds raised today go to support the Cancer Society.

In today's weather forecast we should see overnight fine spells and a few light showers.

Cloud increasing in the evening with a northeasterly breeze.

It's a three-clothing layer and one-windproof layer day today with a high of 15 and an overnight low of 8 degrees. Humidity is 95 per cent.

This day in 1920 was the first flight across the Cook Strait. Captain Euan Dickson completed the first air crossing of Cook Strait, flying a 110-hp Le Rhone Avro from Christchurch to Upper Hutt and carrying the first air mail between the South and North Islands.
