Where to cast your vote early

There are plenty of places around town where you can make an early vote. Photo: Rosalie Liddle Crawford.

Advance voting has been open across the country for a week now, and has been eagerly embraced by voters in this year's general election.

More than 300,000 advance votes have already been cast, almost surpassing the total advance votes of the 2011 election.

For those in Tauranga and the Western Bay wanting to cast their vote early, they can do so at any of the advance voting places dotted around their communities.

If you're not enrolled yet, you can do so at any of these locations before Saturday September 23.

Check out the list below to find out where you can cast an early vote.

It used to be you voted on a Saturday, "election day". Prior to that all election signage had to be taken down and all advertising was illegal on election day so as not to sway the voters.Yesterday I voted early as you now can, there are signs everywhere enticing you to "vote for us".I was surprised at the booth to see two elderly ladies, either side of the lady checking the electoral roll, both wearing huge rosettes, one blue with National on it and the other red with Labour on it.I would be keen to know if the two major parties are allowed to do this.
