A crash on Taurikura Drive this afternoon is serving as a reminder for motorists.
A car struck a tree on Taurikura Drive opposite Farmlands about 1pm, leaving the tree felled and the car stranded across the centre median.
Marks on the median show the car was heading downhill towards SH36 when the accident occurred, says a reporter who was at the scene.
The driver was uninjured, but the blue Nissan Silvia had to be towed.
The 10cm tree trunk was taken out close to ground level by the car, leaving a section of trunk about a metre long separated from the rest of the foliage.
Tauranga Police would like to remind motorists to take care in wet weather and drive to the conditions.
"Motorists are advised to watch their following distances, check their speed and considering allowing extra time for their journey."

Trees are a hazard, a OSH risk we should knock them all done and take them all away so as the trees are no longer aboe to "leap" out in front of cars and so make a nuisance of themselves.

Sort of.... I guess the driver was taken away for tree-tment? The worst thing is, the driver is back behind the wheel of another car by now.... so, watch out!
