Tauranga Mitre 10 Mega are giving locals the chance to catch up with the Bay of Plenty Steamers ahead of their match against Counties Manukau.

In support of the Mitre 10 Cup, locals are invited to join a passing skills test at Mitre 10 MEGA Tauranga tomorrow.

Public will also be able to compete against Steamers players to win rugby-themed prizes and can expect to enjoy a fun family morning out.

The event is being hosted from 10am – 12pm, before the Steamers go head to head with Counties Manukau on home turf, at Tauranga Domain at 2.35pm Sunday afternoon.

Steamers players including Tyler Ardon and Lars Morrice will be sharing their rugby passing tips and tricks, and competing against public who are up for the test.

Steamers player Tyler Ardon, said he's looking forward to the event at Mitre 10.

"Provincial rugby has been around for a really long time now, and that creates passion and excitement in the competition every year.

'People love to represent and support their local community.

'It's excellent that Tauranga Mitre 10 MEGA are behind the team and are helping people in the area get together,” says Tyler.

Tauranga Mitre 10 Group General Manager Wayne Mansell, said that he's really looking forward to the Mitre 10 Cup.

'It will be great to show our support for the Mitre 10 Cup by getting the Steamers and the local community down to Mitre 10 for a bit of a competition of our own.

'We are big supporters of the Steamers and wish them all the best for tonight's game,” says Wayne.
