Man leaves court cells in ambulance

An investigation is underway after a man was found in serious condition in the Tauranga District Court cells.

A police spokesperson says officers responded to an incident in the Tauranga District Court cells, shortly after midday yesterday.

“A man who was alone in a cell, was found in a serious condition. Medical treatment was provided to him before he was taken to Tauranga Hospital in an ambulance.

“He remains in Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition.

“Police are investigating and enquiries are ongoing.”
