Labour MPs Jan Tinetti and Angie Warren-Clark say they feel ‘surreal' after last night's announcement of a Labour-led government.

SunLive caught up with the pair at Tauranga airport, their way to Wellington for today's Labour caucus.

'We're both incredibly excited, we had no idea, we found out with the rest of the country and it was just an amazing feeling,” says Jan.

'We'll be split between Tauranga and Wellington as per usual, when the house is sitting we'll be down here and the rest of our time will be spent doing work up in Tauranga,” says Jan

'We're on an early plane, on the way down to Wellington to find out to find out what it all means,” says Angie.

'We've got a caucus meeting soon and we really don't know from there, but the one thing we do know is we have that meeting,” says Jan.

'There will be already discussions going on as to when the house will sit for the first time, we don't know what that will look like yet but we're presuming it will be sometime in November

'We know we have to sit before the 23rd of November, then we'll be full on and into it from there.”

'It goes without saying the first 100 days are the most important so it looks as though it will be busy,” Angie.

The pair say they are yet to speak to their counterpart local Bay of Plenty and Tauranga MPs.

'We haven't spoken to Simon or Todd yet, but hopefully we'll be able to catch up with them soon,” says Jan. 'Both Angie and I are completely committed to the Tauranga area and we want to work with them in that city and area.”

'They are still the electoral MPs,” says Angie.

Far too many MPs for a small place. In the words of Donald, time to drain the swamp.
