The man who died in a crash on State Highway 29 will be farewelled by friends and family this weekend.

Adrian Carlisle Hetet died following a crash near Tauranga on October 28.

His funeral will be held at Tauranga Park, 383 Pyes Pa Road Tauranga on Saturday November 4 at 10.30am, followed by a private cremation.

Two women – a 19-year-old from Te Puke and a 37-year-old from Papamoa – were injured in the crash, and were admitted to hospital at around midnight on Saturday.

A BOPDHB spokesperson says the 37-year-old was discharged the following day, while the 19-year-old was discharged on Monday.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the accident.

Despite speculation that potholes on the highway were to blame, police confirm there were no road surface defects or potholes that may have contributed to the crash.
