Baypark Speedway to end with a bang

Fireworks and stock cars will be going ‘bang’ at Baypark Family Speedway for its annual Fireworks Extravaganza on November 4.

Around $20,000 worth of fireworks will be going up in smoke at Baypark on Saturday, November 4, bringing a full programme of speedway racing to a spectacular close.

'It's one of our biggest nights of the season,” says promoter Bernie Gillon, 'and this year we've got some amazing racing with the first round of the Burger King super saloon series, which will be televised this year on TV3's motorsport programme.”

There will also be $500 up for grabs for the best 'stirrer” out on the track in the stock cars – that's the driver who can cause the most mayhem.

'That will make for a really interesting night of stock car racing,” says Bernie

Classes racing include super saloons, saloons, stock cars, six-shooters and mini stocks.

Gates open at 5pm, with racing starting at 6.30pm. The public are welcome to come along early to walk through the pits, meet the drivers and get an up-close look the race cars.

A buffet meal is available in the speedway lounge at a cost of $25 for adults and $50 for a family of four, and there are plenty of food and drink options available trackside.

There will also be a kids' zone, including a bouncy castle and face-painting.

Tickets can be purchased via the Baypark Family Speedway website at: www.bayparkspeedway.co.nz or at the gate on the night.

Prices: Adults $25, seniors and children aged 5-15 years $10, family (two adults plus three children) $60. Children under five attend free.

How about putting 4,000 $5 notes on a pallet in the middle of the arena and just set it alight with a match - same difference - cash going up in smoke. Perhaps we could grow a social conscience and donate the money to local charities and do some actual good with it.

Will have the last laugh here and as a result be a complete and utter reflection of the entire outfit, a wash out! Heavy rain will deal to the track and be the final answer on this place. The "BIG bang" finish wont get past a soggy fizzle...

Nice people.

Do you two negative people have the same opinion on the firework displays put on by St Mary'sschool and the one at welcome bay?.Some people really need to get a bloody life.

It's entertainment guys!

Get a life. The kids ( and adults ) love it and it's a safe option to see fireworks. Ideally public displays of fireworks should be the only option. Our family are regulars to the speedway and fireworks, and the smiles and excitement on the kids faces make it all worthwhile. May get postponed if rain is forecast, unlikely to be cancelled. I challenge the nay sayers to come along...chances are you'll love it.

It was great!

Thanx Baypark for yet another amazing night. Great to see so many families and children there having quality time together. And not a single drop of rain!
