Four run after pursuit ends in crash

A police chase in Papamoa ended with four people bailing from a vehicle after it crashed into a tree.

The pursuit began around 7.45pm, when a patrol car attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle outside Papamoa TAB

An officer signalled for the car to stop, but it took off, says police.

A short time after the pursuit began, the fleeing vehicle crashed into a tree on Waimarana Close and all four occupants of the vehicle fled the scene.

"There were no injuries," says a police spokesperson.

"Police are making enquiries to locate the driver."
