Today's weather forecast is for a fine day with light winds and sea breezes.

It's a three-clothing layer day today with a high of 20 and an overnight low of 13 degrees.

Low tide is at 12.50pm and high tide is at 7pm. Sea temperature is 17 degrees. There's an average sea swell of about .3m and sunset tonight is at 8.02pm.

If you're going fishing today the best fish bite time is between 11am and 1pm.

This day in NZ history in 1925 the New Zealand and South Seas International Exhibition opened in Dunedin. By the time the exhibition closed in May 1926, it had attracted over 3.2 million visitors, more than double New Zealand's total population at the time.

In world history on this day in 1869 the Suez Canal was officially opened. In 1913 the first ship sailed through the Panama Canal which connected the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

Our quote for today is from Will Rogers who said “Don't let yesterday take up too much of today.”
