A rescue helicopter is collecting a shooting victim from the eastern Bay of Plenty township of Ruatoki this afternoon after a family shooting.
A police spokesperson says a firearm was presented by family member at about 2pm today.
'One brother shot the other in the leg,” says the police spokesperson. 'Both are known to police and the address is also known to police.”
The victim is being flown to Tauranga hospital by helicopter in a serious-moderate condition and the scene examination is being undertaken by CIB currently.
